Competitive & High Performance Coaching Opportunities
Shadow Water Polo Club is expanding its coaching staff and seeking enthusiastic, committed coaches to join our team. We welcome applications from qualified coaches of all genders and are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive coaching environment. Based out of the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in Scarborough, Ontario, Shadow Water Polo Club offers programming for athletes ranging Mini Water Polo to High Performance levels.
We are currently seeking coaches to support our pre-competitive, competitive, and high-performance programming.
These are flexible, contract-based coaching opportunities. Coaching responsibilities, weekly commitments, and program assignments will be determined collaboratively based on club needs and coach availability, experience, and interests.
Reporting Structure
Coaches will report directly to the Technical Director and work collaboratively with the broader coaching staff to support athlete development across all program levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead water polo training sessions for pre-competitive, competitive and/or high-performance athletes.
- Support athlete technical, tactical, physical, and personal development.
- Run dryland and conditioning sessions.
- Prepare practice plans and contribute to seasonal planning.
- Coach at local, provincial, national, and potentially international competitions.
- Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, and club leadership.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to team operations and programming.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and athlete-centered team environment.
Position Details
- Contract-based coaching position.
- Coaching assignments and weekly hours will be determined based on program needs, availability and experience.
- Opportunities may range from limited weekly session coverage to broader program leadership responsibilities.
- Evening and some weekend availability required.
- Travel required for out-of-town tournaments on certain weekends.
Qualifications
Required:
- NCCP certification (appropriate level or willingness to pursue certification)
- Competitive water polo playing and/or coaching experience
- Passion for athlete development and team culture
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Assets:
- Previous coaching experience
- Experience working with youth athletes in a competitive environment
- High-performance or NCL experience
- Experience mentoring developing athletes and coaches
